Learn more about Alcraft Kitchens and our commitment to quality cabinetry by exploring the history of our business. We also welcome you to visit our showroom and speak to our helpful staff.
The story of Alcraft Kitchens begins with William Albert (1922-2009). He followed his passion for woodworking from construction to cabinet making in the late 1950s. In 1960, he purchased a small shop in Ramsey, NJ, and our company began.
Alcraft became a hallmark name, supplying cabinetry to the rapidly developing Bergen County housing market. Over the next decade, we shifted from manufacturing to representing a large American cabinet maker, as well as employing talented personnel — many of which are now found in the "Who's Who of the Kitchen and Bath Industry."
Growth from Generation to Generation
The establishment of a cabinet showroom and design studio on Ramsey's Main Street necessitated family participation in everything from bookkeeping to maintenance. The oldest son, Bruce Albert, finished cabinetry design school before graduating high school. He worked summers with the installation crews while completing his college degrees, and eventually took over Alcraft Kitchens in 1978. Bruce continues to serve as company president today.
The '80s saw unparalleled growth thanks to the development of large upscale communities within the county and neighboring states. This development positioned Alcraft Kitchens perfectly for further success thanks to our high-quality cabinetry, design expertise, and reliable craftsmanship. Our decades of work established a clientele spanning three generations.
To accommodate our expanding customer base, we built the showroom at the Swan Street location, while keeping the warehouse and shop facilities efficiently under the same roof. Although our location changed, our commitment to quality and cutting-edge designs remain the same. Visit today to discuss your dreams for the "heart of your home" or any other storage or work area, and join the generations of satisfied customers we have been proud to serve.
